  • What is a psychiatrist?
A psychiatrist is a medical doctor (MD) who specializes in mental health and emotional disorders. Psychiatrists are trained to diagnose and treat a wide range of mental illnesses including depression, anxiety, bipolar disorder, schizophrenia, and substance abuse disorders. Psychiatrists can prescribe medication and use psychotherapy to help their patients manage their symptoms and improve their overall quality of life.
  • Where do you see patients?
Telehealth visits are conveniently held via video calls from the comfort of your own home, anywhere in Connecticut. I have an office in Westport, CT, for patients who prefer or require in-person appointments.
  • What are the appointment costs?
    - If you have CT Medicaid (Husky), services are fully covered by your insurance and there is no out-of-pocket cost to you. - If you have United Healthcare / Optum, please refer to your insurance plan for information on out-of-pocket costs such as copays and deductibles. - If you have any other insurance plan or no health insurance, you will be required to pay out of pocket for your appointment via online credit card payment at the time of your visit.
  • Will my insurance reimburse me if I pay out of pocket?
That depends on your insurance plan. If your plan includes out-of-network benefits, you may be able to submit a claim using the invoice ("superbill") that I provide, and your insurance may reimburse you for a portion of the costs. Please be mindful of your out-of-network deductible which you may have to reach before getting any money back from your insurance.
  • Can I contact you between appointments?
Yes, I encourage patients to contact me between appointments for any questions or concerns that should not wait until the next appointment, such as medication side effects, difficulty filling a prescription, or worsening of symptoms. My patients contact me directly and do not need to go through another person to reach me. Please note that I may not be able to respond immediately and will get back to you within the next 2 business days. If you are having a medical emergency, please call 911 or go to the nearest emergency department. If you are in crisis and/or having suicidal thoughts, please call or text the 988 lifeline.
  • What is your late cancellation policy?
If you are not available for your scheduled appointment, please reschedule or cancel it at least 48 hours in advance. Failure to do so will result in a $100 cancellation fee.
